Steak Fajitas

Steak Fajitas - Tuttle Kitchen

Tonight we had steak fajitas for dinner, and the seasoning I used was so delicious. Usually I just salt, pepper and grill the meat and veggies, but I decided to "go all out" tonight. I looked this recipe up on AllRecipes.com. The only thing I added was a chicken bouillon cube. This may be my new favorite meal of all time, for real.

Most of these ingredients are found in the average household spice cabinet, which I love. Sometimes if the ingredients are too obscure, I tend to scroll right past a recipe. You will all love this easy fajita seasoning recipe. Be sure to pair this with the homemade tortillas from my previous post and you will definitely impress! Next time we have guests over for dinner, I'm busting this out for sure. Here we go, lets start with the seasoning. It looks like a lot of ingredients, but don't let this scare you.

Fajita Seasoning Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 crushed chicken bouillon cube
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cumin

Mix all ingredients together, then once your meat and veggies are ready, add seasoning with 1/2 cup of water and simmer until sauce has thickened.

Homemade Tortillas - Tuttle KitchenSteak Fajita Ingredients

  • 8 tortillas (See Homemade Tortillas Recipe here)
  • 1 lb steak sliced thin
  • 1 green bell pepper sliced
  • 1 medium yellow onion sliced
  • Fajita seasoning (seen above)
  • 1/2 cup water

Start by prepping your pepper, onion and steak. Thinly slice your steak, onion and bell pepper to about the same size and toss everything into a non stick pan, over medium high heat. Brown the steak and veggies. Once your peppers and onions are tender (this takes 5 to 8 minutes) you will add the fajita seasoning and water then mix well. Simmer until the sauce has thickened and is evenly coating everything in the pan, this should only take 2 min. Serve on tortillas with your favorite toppings. We always just use sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese. Feel free to add anything your heart desires. Enjoy!
